As parents, there is so much uncertainty. And a fear of the unknown can be one of the most challenging things we, and our children, can face as human beings.
I know when I was at school and doing my school assessments or HSC, there were so many fears I had.
What if I get a bad mark?
What if I study as much as I can and it’s not enough?
What if I freeze in the exam?
What if I don’t get into my uni course?
What if I disappoint my parents?
What if I disappoint my teachers?
What if I fail in life?
But, the best way for your children to conquer their fear, isn’t to push it away. It’s just to sit and acknowledge it.
Here’s a quick exercise you can do with your kids to help them understand their fear, and most importantly, not let it stop them.

Take a few minutes in a quiet space right now, and write down at least 3 of your biggest fears.

Now that you’ve done that, close your eyes, and take 3 deep breaths. Don’t push the fear away, just sit with it.

Open your eyes, and write down 3 ways you’d like to feel.

My personal choices are – bold, courageous and determined.

Write down your goals and start taking action!

What steps do you need to take to accomplish them? Break it down, and plan it out.
You’ve got this! As Michael Jordan said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
