How important is your relationship with your teacher?
Â
A great relationship with your teacher is one of the most important things you can have in school. Teachers have a profound impact on the lives of their students, and students who work closely with their teachers tend to be more successful with their studies, which boosts their self-confidence at school, and later on down the road.
Some ways for you to build these positive bonds include:
Â
Thinking about where your seat is in the classroom. Sitting at the back and being disruptive (or not participating in online learning) will make it more difficult for teachers to help when they need to, so be sure to stay focused and ensure that you’re not too far away from the front row.
Â
Asking questions during or at the end of the class. The best way to create a positive relationship with your teacher is by asking them questions, or handing work in for their feedback (not too close to assessments when they are super busy!).
Â
Saying thanks! Gratitude for what they do makes a big difference. A simple “thank you” or “that was a great class, I really enjoyed (whatever it is)” will go a lot further than you think!
