In this holiday session, we will be consolidating difficult areas of Year 7 content:
1. Algebra and Equations
This is often considered the biggest hurdle because it introduces abstract variables instead of just numbers.
Comprehending that a letter (like x) can represent an unknown number or a range of values.
Solving Simple Equations: Students move from guess-and-check to applying inverse operations to isolate the variable (e.g., solving 3x + 4 = 10).
Substitution: Applying substitution to evaluate algebraic expressions.
Laws of Arithmetic/Distributive Law: Applying number properties to algebraic terms.
2. Fractions, Decimals, and Percentages (FDP)
Operations with Fractions: Performing all four operations (multiplication and division especially) with fractions and mixed numerals.
FDP Conversions in Word Problems: Fluently converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages to solve multi-step problems
